Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin expects the world economy will grow 10 times over 10-20 years thanks to the introduction of the blockchain. He announced this at the SXSW conference this week.
Lubin noted that today the majority of “normal” people do not use blockchain, drawing a parallel with e-mail, which in the first years of its existence also did not have much popularity.
He also turned to the development topic of Ethereum 2.0. According to Lubin, the updated version of Ethereum will be devoid of many shortcomings that exist in the current version of the protocol and in Bitcoin.
“Bitcoin and currently Ethereum require specialized equipment that burns large amounts of electricity, only to ensure synchronization in the network. After 18 months with Ethereum 2.0, we will have a much more powerful and scalable system, which will require much less energy, ”he said.
In January, Lubin became a member of the board of directors of the regulated crypto-exchange ErisX.
