IBM: Hackers prefer cryptodoging to extortion.

IBM specialists have conducted research and recently released their results. Experts from X-Force claim that in 2018 there was a sharp increase in cryptocurrency attacks. And they note that less and less criminals are engaged in extortion, demanding payment in digital currency. Most often, they began to focus on cryptojacking, which is hidden.

According to the researchers, from the first to the fourth quarter of last year, hidden mining increased by 450%. At the same time, the number of extortions decreased by 45%. According to IBM, cryptodokking extends not only to desktop devices, but also to mobile platforms. According to Charles Henderson of IBM, a cryptocurrency racket targets one victim, but hidden mining allows you to earn on many. Of course, for intruders, the latter option is more interesting.

Moreover, Henderson is confident that cybercriminals will improve their skills. If you do not control the process, they will soon move from hidden mining to the botnets used for spyware attacks. The expert says that it is important to use the latest anti-virus software and not to download programs from unofficial sources.
