The South Korean government will unite with a consortium of domestic companies to consolidate $ 7.7 million. The United States has three blockchain projects - a platform for the sale of used cars, a financial services project and a platform for charitable donations.


According to KiNews and iNews24, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and the Korean Internet Development Agency (KIDA) will provide funding in the amount of $ 4 million, and the rest will come from 24 private sector consortia, which include some of the largest conglomerates and banks countries, as well as cryptocurrency operators, domestic venture capital companies and startups with blockchains - a total of 80 companies.

The Ministry and KIDA held consultation meetings with consortia, which will begin in December last year and end in late January 2019. The parties declare that they intend to conclude all the necessary contracts by mid-March in order to begin work on projects. Until the end of the month.

All three projects will be led by private sector companies, namely:

  • Platform for maintenance of used cars, working on the blockchain, proposed (and led) by the Hyundai AutoEver subsidy of the Hyundai group. AutoEver specializes in selling cars online. Startup Blockchain Blocko, ABC Solutions, a software and services provider, as well as another subsidy from Hyundai, Hyundai Glovis (logistics specialist), will also participate in the project.
  • A decentralized charity donation platform proposed (and led) by software development company e4net. The project participants are Dunamu, one of the subsidies of the blockchain group Kakao, as well as the operator Upbit exchange, the Children's Fund, a children's charity and the startup Blockchain Inoblock.
  • Financial and educational services platform offered (and headed) by SK Telecom. Project participants include Coinplug, operator of CPDAX cryptocurrency exchange, large commercial banks Hana and Uri, as well as LG in the Internet arm, LG U +. Blockchain startups Haechi Labs and KOSCOM will also take part in the project, as well as another subsidy SK, the developer of the Internet platform SK Planet.
