Cryptopia Exchange again postponed the launch, despite permission from the police.

The New Zealand alt-koinry hacked in January continues to delay the re-launch of trading.

As a Cryptopia employee said, the company is in no hurry to resume operations - at least until it is confident that it will protect its users' balance sheets.

Recall that the New Zealand marketplace was hacked in early January of this year. At the same time, hackers continued to withdraw funds from the wallets of the exchange even two weeks after the hacking. The total damage exceeded $ 16 million in various cryptocurrencies. However, on February 8, the New Zealand police reported on progress in investigating the incident, and a week later the site was allowed to resume operations.

It seems that hacking really frightened the management of Cryptopia. The administrator of the exchange channel on the Discord portal stressed that although the authorities do not restrict the launch of the site, the company’s management does not plan to do so soon. He also noted that New Zealand’s laws prohibit the provision of trade services in the event of a possible threat to clients ’assets.

“Although the police stated that they are not restricting us from resuming operations, it would be incredibly irresponsible to do this before we fully calculate the losses and make sure that the wallets are absolutely secure,” said a company employee.

Note that the other day, the US police returned 28 BTC, stolen from the Bitfinex exchange back in 2016. Unfortunately, this is an insignificant part of the stolen assets, because 120 thousand bitcoins were stolen. However, this case was the first when the authorities return the stolen cryptocurrency.
